Planning ahead in the event that you need to enable a remote workforce

Simon Bramfitt

Four weeks ago coronavirus was a distant problem in a far away land. Today, with cases reported in over 50 countries, COVID-19 is an imminent threat to the global economy, with Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of the World Health Organization health emergencies program stating “This is a reality check for every government on the planet: Wake up. Get ready. This virus may be on its way and you need to be ready.”

Even though possible treatments are already being tested, prevention is always better than a cure, and right now with no real possibility of a vaccine for 12-18 months, the best defence appears to be isolation. The cancelation of Facebook’s F8 conference and Mobile World Congress in response to the coronavirus threat were just the tip of the iceberg, the list of cancelled events, travel bans, and quarantines grows every day.

Many of Tehama’s customers are already acting to curtail non-essential travel and encouraging employees to work from home. At the same time, they are reviewing disaster preparedness and business continuity plans, and assessing the fitness of their IT systems to support a sudden increase in demand for remote access services. And it’s not all good news, some are finding their legacy remote access platforms, policies and procedures to be inadequate in the face of this threat.

VDI platforms are inflexible and unable to respond to the increase in demand that an overnight transition to a regional or national work from home directive would entail. DaaS is a possible way forward, but conventional DaaS solutions lack the tight-grained security required in regulated environments and require inflexible term commitments that make them prohibitively expensive for use as a contingency against an uncertain threat. Tehama is uniquely positioned to respond to this threat, and is today supporting its customers as they scale out their existing Tehama deployments to meet this challenge.

Tehama’s DaaS platform was designed to secure the digital supply chain. With zero-trust at its core, total visibility into all operations at its edge, and  SOC II Type 2 compliance built-in, Tehama is capable of securing access to your business critical systems today. With the flexibility to deliver 1 or 10,000 desktops across the globe in minutes, for a day, a week, a month, or forever, Tehama can provide the assurance you need to secure your business in an uncertain and rapidly changing world.

While our ability to deliver desktops is (practically) limitless, our resources are not. We are ramping up to meet this urgent demand, but we can only move so fast, so if you want to learn first hand how Tehama can keep your workforce productive in the face of coronavirus and COVID-19, or any other threat to your business contact info@tehama.io today so you can be sure you are ready tomorrow.
